Beginning of works on the construction of the Regional Center for Cyclotourism – Banat in Srpska Crnja

On July 2017 the realization of the “Tour de Banat” project financed by the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Romania-Serbia started. The project has brought together three partners, the Municipality of Nova Crnja as the lead beneficiary, the Municipality of Jimbolia (Romania) and the Regional Agency for Socio – Economic Development – Banat, as partners, about a common idea to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the region through strengthening and promoting cross – creating conditions for the development of cyclotourism.

One of the main preconditions for the development of this, with us still a new type of tourism, is precisely adequate infrastructure and institutional support, therefore, the Regional Center for Development of Cyclotourism – Banat, based in Srpska Crnja, will be the first of its kind in Serbia. The center will be a place for cyclists who choose to visit this region to provide all the necessary information, but also a place where they can sneak, fix their bickl and continue their journey. The municipality of Nova Crnja started work on the facility at the Regional Center for development of cyclotourism – Banat, which is located next to the main road leading to Romania, about half a mile from the border crossing. The building will be reconstructed in accordance with the ambient mainland it belongs to, as it is located next to the Kaštela “Banatera” which, with its specific architecture, belongs to the youngest generation of castles in Vojvodina, and was built during the Second World War as the summer manor of German General Franz Neuhausen.

In order to strengthen local capacities for provision of high quality tourist services, from April 25th to April 27th in Srpska Crnja, a three-day workshop will be held dedicated to the presentations of the public, private and non-governmental sector in the field of tourism. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the expectations of cyclists, and some of the topics of the workshop will be: cycling as a specific form of eco-tourism, creating new eco-tourism products and services, promoting them, etc. All interested can register their participation by phone 023 / 510-567 or by e-mail office@rcrbanat.rs , no later than Friday, April 20th.

The total value of the project is 535.933,01 euros, and the period of realization is July 2017 – October 2018.
