Within the project “Tour de Banat”, financed by the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program Romania-Serbia, a cross-border cycling event “Cyclo Fest” was organized on Friday and Saturday, 05 and 06 October 2018.
Within the event, new bicycle routes were created within the project. Cyclists had the opportunity to get to know the most interesting regional tourist sites and attractions. On the first day, cyclists went from the Žembolje Tourist Board and in the afternoon they drove a route called “Jimbolia sightseeing”, while after the afternoon the route “Timisoara hop” which tracks the flow of Bege to Timisoara. On the second day, cyclists drove a part of the route called “Big Banat Experience”, which leaves Romania and ends in Srpska Crnja.
The completion of the Cycle Fest and the reception of bicyclists was held on October 6 from 13:00 in the newly built facility of the Regional Center for cyclotourism “Tour de Banat” in Srpska Crnja (near the border crossing), when a conference was held for the occasion of the ceremonial opening Center. The conference presented the newly established Regional Center for cyclotourism – “Tour de Banat”, with all its facilities and a bicycle package service. As the first center of its kind in Serbia, the Center will provide real institutional support for the development and promotion of cycling tourism in the cross-border region of Romania and Serbia.
